Wills, Living Wills and Powers of Attorney

I am a legal assistant with 11 years of experience, looking to prepare Last Wills and Testaments, Living Wills as well as Powers of Attorney for additional income.  Having a will prepared allows you to decide who will look after your affairs at the time of your death, who is to inherit your property and what they are to inherit. A living will is also important as it eliminates the need for your family to make critical medical decisions without your direction. It lets them know what types of medical treatment you would want administered in the event of a serious accident or illness leaving you legally incapacitated. A Power of Attorney is a document in which you allow someone else to act legally on your behalf. The Power of Attorney may be limited to very specific actions that the Agent is authorized to take on your behalf. On the other hand it may give the Agent very broad powers. In either event, the Agent you appoint in the Power of Attorney should be someone that you trust without reservation. That could be a family member, an advisor, a trustworthy friend or a bank or similar institution. In general, people have a Will and a Power of Attorney only.
